Scottie Scheffler, the wife of 2024 Masters champion Scottie, is just days away from giving birth to their first child.
Scheffler won his second major at Augusta National by four clear shots, securing his second green jacket in three years.
He made it known he would walk out on the tournament if he got the call that Meredith Scheffler had gone into labour.
However, the call never came and Scheffler went from strength to strength.
Scheffler was asked if he had a message to his wife following the win, and he said firmly to her through the TV:
“I’m coming home. I love you and I’m coming home. That’s all.”
When asked about the feeling of being Masters champion and a father for the first time, Scheffler almost choked up.
He expressed his excitement for getting home and celebrating with his wife.
Scheffler managed to video call Meredith after collecting his green jacket, but it was so brief that he wasn’t sure who else was in the background.
He said that his head had been spinning since getting off the tee.
Scheffler said that his wife asked him if she could pray for him before playing, and he didn’t talk to her very long this morning.
Scheffler was focused on staying in the moment, calm, and executing shots, and felt like he did a good job.
