Knoxville Open winner Harry Higgs appeals to the “golf community” to be nice to each other after Grayson Murray’s death

Harry Higgs emerged victorious in the recently concluded 2024 Visit Knoxville Open. Higgs’ victory came in the second hole of the playoff when he made a 37-foot eagle putt over Frankie Capan III.

In his speech after winning the tournament, Higgs remembered Grayson Murray and said that he couldn’t sleep the previous night thinking about how to honor Murray. He asked golfers to be “nice to somebody you don’t even know.”

Higgs further said (via Korn Ferry Tour):

“One thing that I kind of thought last night, especially lying in bed is I would challenge everybody here, and I’m going to do this myself as well. Each day say something nice to someone you love and also make it a point to say something nice to somebody you don’t even know.”

He said that everybody has the bandwidth to make a difference:

“I’ve been blessed with great parents and a great support system and I haven’t had other than some frustration at time, any battles mentally. But lord knows how many people do and it’s only ever increasing so if we can, everybody here could be a difference. The difference.”

With the victory at the 2024 Knoxville Open, Higgs has secured a return to the PGA Tour after the performance.
