Scottie Scheffler Announces Tournament Decision With Court Date Looming
Scottie Scheffler is scheduled to appear in court on June 3 to face the four charges he received following his arrest before the second round of the PGA Championship last week.
Scheffler didn’t let this shocking arrest derail his PGA Championship appearance, playing his next three rounds and finishing in a tie for 8th. The World No. 1 golfer is also participating in this weekend’s Charles Schwab Challenge
Despite his June 3 court date, Scheffler will be active next week as well.
The PGA Tour superstar has announced his intention to play in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Golf Club starting on June 6 — three days after his scheduled court date.
Scheffler, who described the situation as a “big misunderstanding,” plans to enter a plea of “not guilty.” Scheffler’s lawyer, Steve Romines, said they have absolutely no intention of settling the case — maintaining that his client is completely innocent
Scheffler’s charges include one felony count of second-degree assault on a police officer. New video of the incident released by the Louisville Police Department shows no evidence of wrongdoing on Scheffler’s part.
