Ericca Stoll was alongside husband Rory McIlroy at the Scottish Open on Thursday, just weeks after the pair announced they had cancelled their proposed divorce
Erica Stoll was spotted supporting her husband Rory McIlroy at the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club on Thursday, just a short time after they cancelled their plans for divorce.
The golf world was left in shock before the PGA Championship in May when news broke that the couple looked set to officially end their relationship by filing for divorce. Official documents painted their marriage as ‘broken’ seven years after tying the knot in 2017.
Just weeks later, the pair made a major U-turn, as McIlroy announced before the U.S. Open that he and Stoll were now remaining together as a family, scrapping the idea of divorce. “There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate,” McIlroy claimed.
Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.” Fast forward four weeks, and Stoll was back cheering on her man on Thursday, as McIlroy aimed to defend his title at the Scottish Open.
Kicking off the tournament in style, McIlroy shot a five-under-par 65, one shot behind the clubhouse leader. Stoll was spotted closely following her husband around the North Berwick course. It appears that their relationship is back on track, as evidenced by Stoll’s presence in Scotland and McIlroy wearing his wedding ring again after removing it in June.
