Jon Rahm blasts media and reveals reason for tears after first LIV Golf win.
FORMER WORLD NUMBER ONE JON RAHM WENT AFTER HIS CRITICS AFTER THE SPANIARD CLAIMED HIS MAIDEN LIV GOLF LEAGUE VICTORY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.
Jon Rahm addressed the criticism he faced for joining LIV Golf after securing his first win on the tour. Despite the controversy, Rahm stated that he was not bothered by the media’s remarks, explaining that he often critiques himself more harshly than others do. He acknowledged that the criticism stemmed partly from his lack of recent victories, but he used it as motivation to perform better.
Rahm’s win at the JCB Golf & Country Club in Staffordshire was his first since the 2023 Masters, and he was emotional as he celebrated with his caddie, Adam Hayes, upon winning the top prize of $4 million. Rahm admitted that his tears were also due to the absence of his wife Kelley Cahill and their two sons, noting the challenges Kelley has faced during her pregnancy.
Rahm also reflected on the mixed media reactions to his performance, stating that top 10 finishes were sometimes undervalued. He expressed satisfaction with his recent performance and is now focusing on the Olympic Games, where he hopes to win gold.
Teammate Tyrrell Hatton, who also joined LIV Golf this year, shared his experiences and excitement about the league’s growth and atmosphere, highlighting his relief at securing a win in Nashville and the positive impact of LIV’s global events.
