Tension As Jason Day’s inappropriate Dressing May Prompt A Suspension From The Board
Jason Day is at Royal Troon Golf Club playing in the 2024 Open Championship. The Australian is having an excellent tournament, but as usual, he is also making waves with his ‘mountain gear’ outfit.
Day played the third round in a matching jacket and pants in the style of his sponsor, Malbon, which has become a staple for him. Fans have taken to social media to react to his wardrobe.
Let’s take a look at some other reactions on X:
“He’s getting more attention from these wacky outfits than ever before,” one fanposted.
“No hate. @MalbonGolf has their guy ready for the elements today. Hopefully he goes low!,” another fan said.
“Saw his snowboard sticking out of his golf bag,” another user wrote.
Jason Day began his sponsorship stint with Malbon Golf in January 2024. Prior to that, Day had been on Nike’s sponsorship roster since 2016, with a $100 million contract, according to Golfweek.
Since he began working with Malbon Golf, Day has been spotted wearing unusual apparel on the golf course, including vests, boggey pants, sweatpants, etc.
A look into Jason Day’s performance at the 2024 Open Championship
Jason Day kicked off his performance at the 2024 with a first round of three birdies and five bogeys (2 over). He improved significantly on Friday, carding one of the few bogey-free rounds of the event so far with three birdies (3 under).
Day entered the so-called “moving day” at 1 under and tied for 7th. However, he quickly lost ground with consecutive bogeys on the 1st and 2nd.
The Australian recovered and played the rest of the front nine bogey-free with two birdies to reach the back nine in even par. He again struggled at the start, bogeying the 10th and 13th.
Day is currently 1 over for the tournament, which puts him in a share of 15th place.
