The third round of the men’s individual golf strokeplay at the 2024 Paris Olympics saw Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy put up an incredible show. As the event heads into the final round, both the PGA Tour stars are battling it out to finish at the top of the podium.
With over 30 thousand fans from all over the world present at the Le Golf National course this week, players have been grateful for all the support, which has pushed them to perform better. World number one golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was overwhelmed by the number of spectators present. Here’s what the American had to say to the Olympic media:
” I think the only big surprise was the crowds. I didn’t really know what to expect from them but the crowds have been really nice this week. It’s been a lot of fun playing in front of them. “
After a mediocre start, Rory McIlroy has significantly climbed up on the leaderboard to become the fan favourite. Both Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are in contention for a medal following the third round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The PGA Tour stars are tied for sixth place with a 54-hole score of ten under par 203. They share the place with South Korea’s Tom Kim.
Following rounds of four under par 67 and two under par 69, Scheffler replicated his first round on the third day. The world number one golfer carded in three birdies and one bogey on the par 36 front nine, and three birdies and one bogey on the par 35 back nine.
