BREAKING : Keegan Bradley Removed as Ryder Cup Captain, “Tiger Woods Given Second Chance at Leadership Role”….FULL DETAILS BELOW
Tiger Woods, the five-time Masters champion, may yet have a chance to participate in this year’s Presidents Cup, thanks to a potential lifeline offered by US team captain Jim Furyk. Furyk, who will make his debut as captain at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada, has six captain’s picks to make, with half of the team already securing their spots.
Despite Woods turning down the Ryder Cup captaincy for next year and being committed to PGA Tour responsibilities, Furyk is open to the idea of Woods contributing to the team. In an interview with Golfweek, Furyk expressed his intention to reach out to Woods, citing his valuable strategic insights and pairing suggestions.
Furyk has already secured the services of top players like Olympic champion Scottie Scheffler and two-time major winner Xander Schauffele, among others. However, he still has one more pick to make, and hinted that it could be Woods.
“I’ll reach out to Tiger,” Furyk said. “I think we all kind of expected that he was going to be named Ryder Cup captain, and when that didn’t happen, I know he’s got his plate full with the PGA Tour and working on our board, which seems to be a lot of work at the moment.”
Furyk praised Woods’ strategic expertise, saying, “He’s got some great stuff with pairings.” However, he also acknowledged that Woods’ commitments to the PGA Tour might be a hurdle.
Instead of Woods, Keegan Bradley will captain Team USA at next year’s Ryder Cup. However, it’s unclear whether Bradley will play in the Presidents Cup. Furyk confirmed that he has a plan for Bradley but didn’t elaborate.
Furyk also praised Bradley’s passion and energy, saying, “You can see the passion in Keegan’s eyes. You can hear it in his voice, whether it’s about a Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup or just on a daily basis. He brings a lot of energy.”
With Furyk’s captain’s picks imminent, the golf world waits with bated breath to see if Woods will be given a chance to participate in the Presidents Cup. If selected, it would be a significant opportunity for Woods to contribute to the team and showcase his skills on the international stage.
