Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is facing a wave of criticism following a perplexing performance that featured what many are dubbing a contender for the “worst interception of the year.”

Despite the Colts pulling off a narrow 21-16 victory over the Chicago Bears, Richardson’s inconsistent play left fans questioning his future with the team.

The second-year QB’s struggles were highlighted when, after a promising 50-yard completion, he threw a bewildering short-range interception.

This baffling sequence sparked frustration among fans, many of whom are starting to label him a bust. Richardson has now thrown five interceptions in just three games, including three in a Week 2 loss to Green Bay.

Fans are becoming increasingly frustrated in Indy
The backlash was immediate on social media. Former player and analyst Emmanuel Acho suggested that fans are going to suffer.

“Anthony Richardson is going to take years off of Colts fans’ lives,” Acho declared.

Fans voiced their frustrations, with one saying they were “melting down right now,” while another criticized his inability to make simple plays.

“Richardson misses too many lay-ups,” the fan commented.

“Anthony Richardson can complete passes that 99 percent of NFL QBs cannot complete. Anthony Richardson cannot complete passes that 99 percent of NFL QBs can complete,” were the thoughts of another fan online.

This sentiment underscores the dual nature of Richardson’s skill set, showcasing both his potential and his glaring inconsistencies.

In the aftermath of the game, Richardson himself recognized the need for improvement.

“The quarterback play has to become way better. I’m being a hard critic on myself. I keep turning the ball over, and my team doesn’t need that,” Richardson explained in an interview with the NFL Network.

He praised the performance of his defense and offensive line, emphasizing his determination to elevate his game.

As the season unfolds, the Colts and their fans will be closely monitoring Richardson’s progress, hoping he can achieve the consistency necessary for success in the NFL.
