Matt Taylor suggested that only a win would be good enough for Bristol Rovers in their upcoming match against Swindon Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
The Gas have started quickly in October, beating Charlton Athletic 3-2 at The Memorial Stadium at the start of the month before triumphing against Burton Albion away from home to collect six points from two games in Sky Bet League One.
Rovers now turn their attention to the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, where they drew 3-3 with Tottenham Hotspur U21s before losing on penalties.
The Robins were defeated in their first match of the competition, with Exter City collecting a 2-1 victory.
Taylor insisted that it was important his side continued their momentum and stated that he will field a competitive side in a game he wants to win.
“You saw the group today, and there was a few on the back of a three-game league week that were out on their feet physically,” he said.
“So, we’ll have to rotate, and we’ve got a big enough squad to be able to do that. We’ve only lost Michael Forbes to international call-ups. So, he’s obviously unavailable.
“Shaq Forde is suspended from a sending-off from the competition last season, so not many people knew about that, including myself!
“We’ll rotate, move things around and look after a few, but we want to be competitive. We’ve played one game in the competition so far where we drew with Tottenham Hotspur U21s, and it went to penalties.
“We do want to progress in this competition, and it’s a great opportunity.”

WANTING TO WIN
“Nothing but a win will do on Tuesday,” said Taylor. “If it goes to draw and penalties again, so be it. But we’ll go and try to win the game and I’m sure Swindon are exactly the same.
“The game being called off the following weekend doesn’t really have a big enough bearing on it for me. You treat every game with the full amount of respect you possibly can as a manager for a club like Bristol Rovers.”
“The ones of note to look after from the Burton Albion match is Scott Sinclair because of the minutes he’s played, and I couldn’t take him off,” said the manager.
“We know about Jamie Lindsay in relation to that and Jack Hunt probably won’t be available because of his calf.
“It’s the case of when you’ve got the next opportunity and the shirt on, play well and you’ve got a good chance of being on the pitch.

“There is so much youth in there that I just think they need to keep on playing. I think training could cloud too many of them, so let’s keep putting them out there and see where it takes us.”
“I came across Mark Kennedy when he was at Lincoln City,” he said. “In my experience of him, I’ve been really impressed. He’s a good footballing man that gets his team to play football.
“Swindon are a big club. They always have been and always will be. It’s a fantastic place to play football as long as the weather is right and there’s no heavy wind. It’s a big pitch and a good pitch, so we go there and it’s a relatively local one for our fans to come and watch us.
“It would be great to back up two league wins with a performance and a result.”
