Fallon Sherrock was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire last year and was presented with the honour by Prince William – but not without a minor blunder
Prince William told the darts sensation he keeps up with the sport on television
Darts star Fallon Sherrock has recounted an embarrassing experience that happened when she was honoured with her MBE last year.
The 30-year-old darts sensation introduced herself globally at the PDC World Darts Championship in 2019, famously becoming the first female to notch up a win at the marquee event. Sherrock’s trajectory continued upwards as she progressed to the Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finals in 2021 and took home the inaugural Women’s World Matchplay title in 2022.
She also made history as the first woman to compete in the 2020 Premier League as a challenger. In recognition of her string of pioneering achievements, Sherrock received the accolade of Member of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to the sport of darts – however, it wasn’t without its hitches.
Describing the moment as “nerve-racking,” Sherrock discussed the experience with host Wayne Mardle on his Club 501 YouTube channel.

She said: “I remember getting there and just feeling so nervous about it, because I didn’t know what to say, didn’t know what to do. My feet were killing me from wearing heels all day. We were walking miles – I should have worn comfier shoes!”
The day took a humorous turn as Sherrock disclosed the minor embarrassment she endured during her Royal encounter, stemming from her questioning of the Prince of Wales’s formal language.
“I think I was more worried about embarrassing myself,” Sherrock said. “Because I know you have like a little chat. I just didn’t wanna say anything stupid. But I kind of did a little bit. I didn’t mean to – to William.
