Gerwyn Price has endured one of the most difficult years in his darts career.
Gerwyn Price has recognised he’s not ready to retire from playing darts after spending time with his family.
Price, 39, has weathered a challenging season – finishing second-bottom in the Premier League, and suffering an early elimination from the PDC World Darts Championship. That’s led to the Welshman facing questions about his future in the sport, especially after failing to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts – a title he won three times in four years between 2018 and 2021.
Taking time out with his family, Price reflected on his career and shared his feelings on Instagram, addressing the retirement rumours head-on. To his 305,000 followers, he posted a story that left no doubt about his intentions.

Price wrote: “When the last 10 years have been constant travelling, darts or downtime with the family, you lose touch with everything else going on around you without even knowing it. Now, there’s no darts; it’s like trying to fill a void.
“I finally realise my life is darts; without it, I don’t know what to do with myself. Fortunately, or unfortunately for some, you’re all stuck with me.”
Price’s recent struggles, highlighted by his failure to reach the final of any TV event over the last year, impacted his automatic qualification for the Grand Slam of Darts. He failed to make it through the preliminary tournament earlier this month, losing to Mickey Mansell, who earned his spot after beating Price and Raymond van Barneveld.
It will be the first year since 2015 that the Welshman will not be at the tournament. That comes after he fell in the second round last year after being beaten by Gary Anderson.
