Crazy!!!!!!!! Beau Greaves opens door to PDC World Championship U-turn after ‘stupid’ comment….. details below
Beau Greaves had initially ruled herself out of this year’s PDC World Championship despite qualifying, but things may be about to change
Beau Greaves has hit out at the PDC for a ban she thinks is ‘stupid
Beau Greaves believes the PDC have been ‘stupid’ banning her from playing in both their World Championships and at Lakeside. By far and away the leading name in women’s darts, 20-year-old Greaves will head to the WDF World Championships later this month, bidding to become a three-time ladies’ world champion – having won the title in 2022 and 2023.
Her path to Lakeside hasn’t been without controversy, however, as, having won the PDC’s Women’s World Matchplay earlier this year, she qualified for Alexandra Palace, but swiftly declined.
This was down to not only Greaves’ own admission that she doesn’t entirely like playing against the top men but also to the ban that the PDC have imposed on those playing in Frimley Green. Said ban means that one may not play in both World Championships in the same year – something Greaves has dubbed ‘stupid.’

“It’s a shame they make you choose [between Lakeside and Ally Pally],” Greaves said whilst at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
“I don’t understand that. I don’t know why they do. I think it’s stupid. I would love to; I wouldn’t go on and win Ally Pally. I’d give it a good crack and see if I played well. But, ultimately, I want to be a ladies’ world champion, and we’ll see if I can do that again in December time.”
Greaves was unable to progress through her Grand Slam group this time around but claimed yet another scalp at the tournament. In empathic fashion, she beat Scotsman Cameron Menzies, coming away a 5-1 winner while averaging just over 95.
Many would have been looking forward to seeing Greaves in action at Alexandra Palace for what would have been the second time after she suffered a 3-0 defeat to Willie O’Connor in 2022 – subsequently choosing to pull out of the tournament last year – but, she has declined yet again.
Greaves is also a two-time Women’s World Matchplay champion
The prodigious dartist did, however, ease her stance on playing against men, adding: “I need to start pushing myself to get better. I think I’ve gone a bit stale.
“I definitely want to look in 2025 at doing more stuff, trying to play better and be more consistent, as I’ve been very inconsistent this tournament [Grand Slam]. I know what needs to be done. I’m ready.
“Maybe I just know I need to start playing different people and start pushing myself. I’m very stubborn in what I decide to play in. It would benefit me if I were a bit more open to playing different stuff and that is definitely a possibility [playing against men more often].
“It’s not the women’s fault. I just want to be better – a better dart player than I am now. I want to be more comfortable on the stage, it’s hard to get up there and just play there and then when you’re not used to playing, obviously all the top players.”
