Leighton Bennett and Billy Warriner suspended by darts regulator for match fixing

Leighton Bennett became the youngest BDO Youth Champion in 2019 at just 13 years old, also beating 14-time world champion Phil Taylor that same year. He and Billy Warriner have been banned from darts for eight and 10 years respectively, and have until December 14 to appeal

The darts regulator has announced that young darts sensation Leighton Bennett has been banned for eight years for match fixing and other allegations.

Bennett, 18, and Billy Warriner, 10, have been suspended following an investigation by the DRA. The International Betting Integrity Association reported suspicious betting on four matches involving Bennett in the 2023 Modus Super Series.

The DRA ruled that “both players should be held accountable for serious breaches” of its rules and, after being suspended in August, Bennett and Warriner were found guilty at a hearing in November. In 2019, Bennett became the youngest BDO Youth Champion at just 13 years old. That same year, he beat 14-time World Champion Phil Taylor.
