Tiger Woods sends message to Bryson DeChambeau after two years of cold shoulder

Tiger Woods appears to have reconciled with a couple of LIV golf stars he distanced himself from nearly two years ago.

The 48-year-old Woods reportedly had a conversation with longtime rival Phil Mickelson on the driving range before the 152nd Royal Troon Open in Scotland last week. This was believed to be their first communication in recent years.

DeChambeau said this was their first communication since he left the PGA Tour in 2022. “This is our first communication, but I will say he’s a competitor and I have a lot of respect for him,” DeChambeau said. “I think having won the U.S. Open twice definitely helped that he came to congratulate me. “I don’t know what his position is, but it was very thoughtful and I appreciate it.”

DeChambeau told Golfweek in March 2023 that Woods had cut off all communication with him after joining LIV Golf the previous year.

When asked if he was interrupted by PGA Tour players, Bryson replied, “Yeah, definitely, I think I know who it is.” He then confirmed that it was indeed Tiger.

“Well, I’m not going to throw anybody under the bus,” DeChambeau continued. “He’s a great friend. I texted him for his birthday.”

Unfortunately, Woods and DeChambeau had similarly disappointing performances in the first and second rounds of the 2024 British Open Championship. Both players ultimately missed out on the cut.
