Scottie Scheffler makes point about Keegan Bradley after seeing him win the BMW Championship last week
Scottie Scheffler has once again spoken about the Tour Championship and the current FedEx Cup format.
The world number claimed calling the FedEx Cup the ‘season-long race’ was ‘silly’ considering any one of the top 30 could run out victorious at East Lake.
Now, ahead of the season-ending finale, has once again suggested that the old format—where the FedEx Cup could be won as a separate entity—was preferable.

Speaking ahead of the , Scheffler reiterated the importance of a season-long race.
“You know, I think we need a season-long race,” Scheffler explained. “I think the FedExCup has been really good for our tour and for the game. I think it’s something exciting to finish off the year.
“Personally, I thought the old format, I didn’t have a ton of issues with. Personally, when I watched it, I found it kind of who was going to end up where, and I didn’t necessarily mind that the winner of the Tour Championship wasn’t the winner of the FedExCup. It provides a little less volatility, which is the negative.
“So, really, it comes down to the guys putting up the money for us to play with. At the end of the day, we have sponsors for our tournaments, and they’re going to want it a certain way, and if FedEx putting up the kind of money they’re putting up at this event, we’re going to have to play it the way they want to play it. It’s just as simple as that.”

“Winning a playoff, and then if he has a great week this week, he has a chance to win the FedExCup.”

Scheffler’s comments on the current format have caused quite a stir. and provides a suitable amount of entertainment.
“I love this format because if it wasn’t this format, none of us would have a chance against Scottie because he’s so far ahead! So I really like this format! He’s so far ahead, and you don’t expect Scottie to finish outside the top five either,” McIlroy said.
Both arguments seem justified. Scheffler is within his rights to feel frustrated, given his season thus far. Heading to East Lake with just a two-shot lead feels harsh. However, if the American were given a ten-shot lead, the whole event would feel futile.
