Even though the competitive season has ended, the GOAT tour has managed to bring elite gymnastics directly to people’s doorsteps. Remember Ellie Black, the gymnast who was seen comforting Melanie de Jesus dos Santos at the Paris Olympics? It was after France’s defeat to Canada in the fourth women’s artistic gymnastics qualifying subdivision. The incident started with Melanie, the French gymnast, coming into the Bercy Arena with high hopes to help her country excel in the team event in front of the home crowd. But things didn’t pan out according to plan and France lost.
However, Ellie Black stepped in to console the heartbroken Melanie, offering a touching moment of sportsmanship. Now, in the GOAT tour, both the Canadian and French gymnasts are performing alongside one another. Now, both gymnasts are performing together in the GOAT tour, and Black sees this as a special experience. In her conversation with CBC Sports, the Canadian gymnast explained, “It’s amazing, all of these athletes. I will say this: all of the athletes on this tour are incredible people.” She disclosed a few more things about GOAT.
After 2021, it is the second time Ellie Black is participating in the show. So, she has a clear view of the GOAT tour. Therefore, Ellie Black cherishes her inclusion in the lineup as, because of this, she has earned her chance to perform with names like Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, and others. After the first edition in 2021, this is the second time Simone Biles is hosting the GOAT tour. This time, however, the show has taken on a bigger shape, adding the male gymnasts. This inclusion has earned praise from not only Ellie Black but also Simone Biles herself. In a conversation with People magazine, the 11-time Olympic medalist laid out, “I’m most excited for the fans to see the best of both worlds. Men’s and women’s gymnastics in one arena, at the same exact time, sharing the same floor.”
This type of gathering seems to be exceptional. The main reason for it is that it features practically every name from Team USA’s gymnastics squad, that competed in the Paris Olympics. This unique gathering may have been the reason behind Biles’ hasty decision as well.
Interestingly, Biles’ participation in the GOAT tour comes just a month after her impressive but challenging performance at the Paris Olympics, where she competed despite suffering from a calf injury. But that harrowing experience could not suppress her from entering the GOAT schedule.
She even limited her gym sessions. Prioritizing her performance on stage, she imposed a few more changes in her daily routines. Lastly, on her preference to spend her off-time on the GOAT tour, the 27-year-old said, “I’ve barely been home, but my body needed this break, so I’m not mad about it.” This displays the effort of the gymnasts to fulfill the objectives of the Gold Over America Tour.
