Luke Littler’s five-word statement about Fallon Sherrock speaks volumes
Luke expressed his admiration for Fallon Sherrock ahead of a potential clash at the World darts Championship.
The ‘Queen of the Palace’ is set to face Ryan Meikle in the first round on Tuesday, December 17, with a showdown against the teen sensation at stake.
Littler, who will enter the competition in the second round as one of the 32 seeds, has addressed the possibility of facing Sherrock since the draw earlier this week. The premier league champion voiced his respect for the 30-year-old, who shocked the sporting world in 2019 by becoming the first woman to win a PDC World Championship match
“It was incredible to watch,” said Littler, who was just 12 at time, of Sherrock’s run to the third round. On how the crowd would react to a match against Sherrock, he told Sky Sports: “If I do come across her, I don’t know what the crowd would be like.
Against Fallon, it might be a bit different [Littler is usually the crowd favourite]. I don’t think anyone really missed it [when Sherrock reached the third round]. It was incredible to watch.”
Sherrock must come through a tough match against Meikle before facing Littler, who said: “Good luck to them both. It should be a really interesting game, because Ryan’s playing really good, and so is Fallon.
“It won’t be easy [against either of them]. No game will be easy this year, but it’ll be a tough test for both of them facing each other in the first round. Either way, I’m very confident, whoever wins.
“I just can’t wait to get on stage. Ever since the Worlds [last year] it has been crazy – this is where it all started for me. The buzz is there, I can feel it.”
The winner of the Meikle-Sherrock match will face Littler in a primetime Saturday night slot on December 21. Defending champion Luke Humphries will be in the action on the opening night, December 15, against the winner of French number one Thibault Tricole versus Australian qualifier Joe Comito
